It's a very usable and functional OS with world class > support from this forum. Not detected?... Did you try this as root? Do you have the right sane backend configured? With FC2 there is a known problem that stops non-root users from getting the right permissions on the usb bus. There have been several good explanations (check the archives) but in my case (once I found out how to configure sane (including getting a required file from the scanners windows driver disk) [I'm using a cheap memorex scanner] I still had to fix the bus permission settings before it would work for a non-root user. I had to poke around to find that my mount point was /proc/bus/usb/001/002 (yours might be different) Then I had to (with root permissions) execute: "chmod 666 /proc/bus/usb/001/002" before kooka would detect the scanner for a normal user accounts. The annoying thing is that I have to do this again after every reboot. I sure hope they fix that for FC3. Because remembering to run the /root/bin/fixscan script I put that chmod command in, BEFORE starting kooka is a small pain. But it's much better than having to boot windows to use the scanner... - -- | --- ___ | <0> <-> Joe (theWordy) Philbrook | ^ J(tWdy)P | ~\___/~ <<jtwdyp@xxxxxxxx>> ############################################################## # You can find my public gpg key at http://pgpkeys.mit.edu/ # ############################################################## -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFBP2ojRZ/61mwhY94RAnjxAKDP567xlxz7Mzks1I001MXF+PwS2gCdEE3k 11Mq7DfulPDtXD/Flmi3TV0= =NBFc -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
