having the problem that my gnome-terminal does not close the window

Look at "edit ---> profiles"
There is an option to restart the command if it
exits under "Title and Command".
Look at the bottom of this screen and look for "When command exits".
I suspect it is set to be "Restart the Command" and you want
"Exit the terminal".
No, it's already so and if I change the value on "Restart the Command"
it's the same.
Inspect but do not edit by hand files in this area:
$HOME/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/*
If I close a tab in my gnome-terminal and then click on "New Tab", it
opens a tab and gives me the prompt....but I still can't have any more tab!!
