fedora 2 tv tuner problem

i just got an old tv card with the brooktree 848 chip on it and i'm trying to make it work for ower a week now (whn i have time for this). when i pluged in the card kudzu recognised the card and then i installed a few programs to view tv (zapping, tvtime, xawtv). i could view the picture from the video-in (composite) but not from the tv-tuner. i did some google search and i found that i have to load the v4l module in xorg.conf.
when i did this i was able to see the last channel i was watching under windows with no sound on all channels. i did some more searching and i found that i have to insert the folowing lines into modprobe.conf
/# bttv
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
options bttv card=2
options tuner type=5/

but now i get sound (that noise you get on tv when no signal is present) all the time (i can't shut it off) and i am not able to find a program. if someone has some ideas i would be glad to hear them.

PS: sorry for my bad english, if i made some big mistake please ignore it
