Thanks for the info on "hdc=ide-scsi". After automounting the udf CD-RW, mount reports the following: /dev/hda3 on / type ext3 (rw) none on /proc type proc (rw) none on /sys type sysfs (rw) none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620) usbdevfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbdevfs (rw) none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw) sunrpc on /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw) /dev/hdc on /mnt/cdrom type udf (ro,nosuid, nodev, user=hugo) And this is the output of ls -la /mnt/cdrom: total 4 drwxrwxrwx 4 4294967295 4294967295 1292 Apr 16 2003 . drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Aug 31 07:36 .. ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? drafts ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? papers Thanks again, Hugo -----Original Message----- From: fedora-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:fedora-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of James Wilkinson Sent: 02 September 2004 01:44 To: fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Problems mounting udf filesystems in Fedora Core 2 Hugo Vieira Neto wrote: > I have just installed Fedora Core 2 in my laptop (a Compaq-HP NX9005) > and I'm having problems to mount udf filesystems (CD-RW's). > > The automount works, but the contents of CD-RW's (written in Windows > XP) is inaccessible. I have tried to use the kernel > option "hdc=ide-scsi" (which was previously used in Red Hat 9.0 - > kernel 2.4.20), but unfortunately without any success. The hdc=ide-scsi route is a blind alley. Don't go down it. It used to be needed for actually burning CDs. Now it isn't. There are a number of other things you'd need to get that working. It's not going to help. When you've automounted a CD-RW, can you run the mount command and send it to the list?
