I have tried to use the kernel > option "hdc=ide-scsi" (which was previously used in Red Hat 9.0 - kernel > 2.4.20), but unfortunately without any success. The hdc=ide-scsi route is a blind alley. Don't go down it. It used to be needed for actually burning CDs. Now it isn't. There are a number of other things you'd need to get that working. It's not going to help. When you've automounted a CD-RW, can you run the mount command and send it to the list?
