Did you try to connect to the correct "screen"
For vncserver on port 5901... % vncviewer machine.domain.com:1
For vncserver on port 5902... % vncviewer machine.domain.com:2
That's it. I set it up once with KDE and it just took the IP address and directed it to the KDE environment. With fwvm I see it's different. Simpler but different :)
