Running gnome-session-properties you can configure autostart of applications/scripts in Gnome. Create a script that calls "gnome-terminal -e" or "gnome-terminal -x" (see gnome-terminal --help) with your python script, so the terminal will start and output is printed in it. Let that call in gnome session.
