Do yourself a favour and switch over to dovecot. Uninstall the
cyrus-imapd package and install the dovecot package. Then edit
/etc/dovecot.conf and activate POP3 as protocol.

The install of the Cyrus-IMAPd during an upgrade is more like an
accident. The default mail server for POP3/IMAP should be dovecot, like
it is by default installed during a fresh install. Cyrus-IMAPd is much
more complicated and powerful and needs a good admin who knows some more
about mail server than just how to start a service. By default
Cyrus-IMAPd is not integrated into the MTA, so you would need to
configure that part too.
