NVidia chipset on the mb

I'm running an NVidia chipset motherboard, with built-in sound and 
ethernet.

Some FC2 utilities seem to know about the onboard ethernet, but I've 
never been able to activate it.  I also haven't been able to get the 
sound card to work.  I've looked around some Linux info and on the 
NVidia website, but I'm still somewhat lost.

At this point I request any general information, what "HOW-TO" to read, 
that sort of thing.  I'd like to sweat it out with some guidance before 
I get to specific questions.  Any help?
