Hi all, I have upgraded from FC1 to FC2. Now I cannot access my CD-ROM drive. When I type 'mount /mnt/cdrom', it says '/dev/cdrom is not a valid block device.' My investigations so far have included the following: 1. 'dmesg | awk /hdc/' produces: ide_setup: hdc=ide-scsi ide1: BM-DMA at 0xe008-0xe00f, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:pio hdc LITE-ON COMBO LTC-48161H, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive 2. 'cat /etc/fstab | awk /cdrom/' produces: /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf, iso9660 noauto, owner, kudzu, ro 0 0 3. 'cat /boot/grub/grub.conf | awk /hdc/' produces: kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.5-1.358 ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.5-1.358smp ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi 4. 'ls -la /dev/cdrom' produces: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Aug 12 22:45 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdc 5. 'ls -la /dev/scd*' produces: brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 0 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd0 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 1 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd1 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 2 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd2 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 3 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd3 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 4 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd4 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 5 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd5 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 6 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd6 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 7 Feb 24 08:02 /dev/scd7 6. 'eject /dev/hdc' produces: eject: unable to open '/dev/hdc'. Same as when I try 'eject /dev/cdrom' or 'eject scd0'. 7. 'lsmod' produces (among other things): scsi_mod 91344 2 sr_mod, sg sr_mod 13348 0 sg 27552 0 uhci_hcd 23708 0 ehci_hcd 21896 0 8. 'modprobe ide-scsi' returns FATAL: Module ide_scsi not found.' Same as for 'modprobe ide-cdwriter'. I have run out of things to try. Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks, Geoff
