I should add (previous post not clear) that the act of redirecting
root email to another user has nothing to do with POP or IMAP. It is
a function of your Mail Transport Agent.


In my case it is sendmail, and email redirection is done via the
file /etc/aliases.

By default, sendmail DOES NOT redirect root email to another user.

I cannot speak about Qmail, Postfix etc, no idea what they do.
