Hi Colin Thanks for your reply. I unfortunately have a 3rd gen iPod. :-( >From your email, does it mean the latest kernel (2.6.7-1.494.2.2) supports FireWire automatically? (I am sorry, I am not sure I understand the output of the grep correctly). What do I need to do to get this FireWire to load correctly? Should I configure and compile the kernel? Thanks again for your (and other people) help. :) --- Colin Charles <linux@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > >From the latest in updates, is kernel > 2.6.7-1.494.2.2 > > grep -i 1394 /boot/config-2.6.7-1.494.2.2 > # IEEE 1394 (FireWire) support > CONFIG_IEEE1394=m > # CONFIG_IEEE1394_VERBOSEDEBUG is not set > CONFIG_IEEE1394_OUI_DB=y > # CONFIG_IEEE1394_EXTRA_CONFIG_ROMS is not set > # CONFIG_IEEE1394_PCILYNX is not set > CONFIG_IEEE1394_OHCI1394=m > CONFIG_IEEE1394_VIDEO1394=m > CONFIG_IEEE1394_SBP2=m > # CONFIG_IEEE1394_SBP2_PHYS_DMA is not set > # CONFIG_IEEE1394_ETH1394 is not set > CONFIG_IEEE1394_DV1394=m > CONFIG_IEEE1394_RAWIO=m > CONFIG_IEEE1394_CMP=m > CONFIG_IEEE1394_AMDTP=m > > What shipped with FC2 itself did not have Firewire > set > grep -i 1394 /boot/config-2.6.5-1.358 > # IEEE 1394 (FireWire) support > # CONFIG_IEEE1394 is not set > > New iPod's however (4th gen) are USB devices, no > Firewire cable by > default... > -- __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
