In which way is rpm not textmode? To make life easier I suggest you get
in touch with yum and/or up2date to keep your system up to date with
security updates and to install and uninstall packages. Both tools (can)
work in non-GUI mode. Maybe a good starting point is

more things about Fedora. Many questions will certainly be answered by
