up2date -l up2date httpd or whatever
it does nothing and locks up the terminal
I dont know of any problems myself, but I don't use up2date either.. My first thing I'd do, is run 'strace up2date X' where X is whatever commands is hanging it for you.. typically this helps me in my first steps of debugging anything like that.
