Or he has not looked at rpm config files like this one:

 /etc/mail/submit.cf.rpmnew

It is so important after updates to look at and resolve the changes in 
all the rpmnew and rpmsave files.

    $ locate rpmsave
    $ locate rpmnew

Then run a diff on the old and the new:

     # diff /etc/mail/submit.cf.rpmnew /etc/mail/submit.cf
