I couldn't find a better way to tell Gaim to use ALSA,
so I'm using that, and it's working fine. BTW, I'd
like to know what approach did you use to have Gaim
using ALSA, and how it is better compared to setting
"custom" sound and telling it to use "aplay|aplayer
%s" in the preferences.

Gaim now uses libao, so I simply create ~/.libao and
that should work. I have not tried the "custom"
approach yet. I have yet to verify that this Gaim
trick work when I get home :)

Cheers,
Hesty
