FC2: volume slider slides down to 0

I've just installed FC2 on this new box and completed all the updates. 
There is but one small thing that is annoying me with FC2, and although 
I found a bug report about and have google'd for a solution, I haven't 
found one yet.

The problem is that when I'm in Gnome, the volume slider slides down to 
0 no matter where I set it -- except for maximum volume.

I recall this happening when I tried FC2 out on a laptop some time ago, 
but I recall updating libgnome and that fixed it, whereas it's not fixed 
on this box. Can someone point me to a fix, that I have overlooked?

As I mentioned I have run all the updates which, presumably, included 
the updates to libgnome and libgnome-devel.
