Alex,
Gnometoaster works also here ...no doubt about it.
Francesco has a different problem, his post is misleading because he has 
problems also with XCDroast and also with cdrecord, I know it because he 
is a good friend of mine....let us help him because he is really a 
newbie   ;-)
