I thought cdrecord was able to use IDE writers directly, and i think i actually used it that way with my CD writer. But now it's not working anymore: # cdrecord -v speed=32 dev=/dev/hdg FC3-test1-i386-disc1.iso [...] TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM scsidev: '/dev/hdg' devname: '/dev/hdg' scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2 Warning: Open by 'devname' is unintentional and not supported. # rpm -q cdrecord cdrecord-2.01-0.a27.4.FC2.1 I think it happened after a recent DVD/CD tools update by Fedora updates.
