This sounds like yum bug. libgcj-3.4.1-2 package has: Obsoletes: libgcj34 and libgcj-devel-3.4.1-2 has: Obsoletes: libgcj34-devel Try using a different update program (e.g. up2date) or rpm -e libgcj34 libgcj34-devel manually and retry. Jakub I have yum removed the above files and all that I can find dependecies, for me about 120 packages. went into var/cache/yum ... and deleted both headers and packages of both libgcj and libgcj34. I then yum install libgcj libgcj-devel, that worked.
