This sounds like yum bug. libgcj-3.4.1-2 package has: Obsoletes: libgcj34 and libgcj-devel-3.4.1-2 has: Obsoletes: libgcj34-devel Try using a different update program (e.g. up2date) or rpm -e libgcj34 libgcj34-devel manually and retry.
