$ xterm -fn 10x20

That will give a large font.  Also, you can also hold CTRL (if it's not CTRL,
try ALT!) and right click in the xterm window (holding the mouse down) and get
a menu of fonts to try.  If you look in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc you can
experiment with the numbers you see there to find some fonts you find to your
liking.
