    Hi:

Just did a clean (everything) install of FC2 on a Dell precision 530 dual 1.7 P4 - scsi.

At boot I see something like:

ACPI: S3 and PAE do not like each other for now, S3 disabled.

audit( xxx ): initialized
Red Hat nash version 3.5.22 starting

       ** (pauses for a couple of minutes before ... ) **

soemthing about initrd and then it switches to graphical boot.

Anything I can do to speed this up?

Edit /boot/grub/grub.conf and remove the "quiet" arguments in the kernel paramater list. This will display what's really going on.

On some of my Dell systems, the kernel will pause on the IDE controller if one channel is enabled, but empty (Serverworks chipset based servers come to mind). The kernel will probe multiple times for each device to check whether or not it exists, which can consume 20 or more seconds.

Also, most SCSI systems will pause while the SCSI bus is scanned and the devices are queried and registered with the driver (Adaptec and RAID drivers come to mind)
