The firewire modules were only present in '427, '435, and '435.2.3. They are 
not present in '358, or 2.6.7. I deleted the modules, and rebooted into each 
kernel to see if that worked. I was able to boot into each kernel. But, with 
the exception of '358, I could not access the internet, XWindows was again 
very sluggish, and sounds kept repeating with each event.
