What is the problem with fedora.redhat.com server? : many times, downloading headers or packages hang for hours and, for me, yum is unable to update a system in less time than 3 or 4 days!!!
I tried to update systems from France, I try to update systems from India now, it is always the same: this server blocks updating for hours.
I use adsl connections 1024Kb/s. I tried several different hours.
Hi François,
The main server is often slow, are you able to download quickly from anywhere? It sounds like you're already trying different Fedora mirrors and finding them slow as well. You can see the complete list of mirrors here:
http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors.html
You should be able to find a mirror that is quicker for you. Of course,
it takes some time for the files available on the fedora servers to appear
on each mirror before you can download from them.
There is little reason to have every fedora install hitting the redhat servers by default, except to gage the uptake of the distribution!
