It progressively more unresponsive until it was effectively locked up, I couldn't switch to console either. I did however have other computers on the network and was able to telnet into my box, although this was also not very responsive it did at least work (a type and wait scenario), didn't spot any process hogs either but there did seem to be a large number of pdflush processes spawning and I understand there's only supposed to be two? I also have an AMD Athlon on an ASUS motherboard, with an ATI 8500 video card. Rob
