R: Kernel 2.6.5-1.358smp

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

The program is acquiring a IP multicast flow on a thread and distributing
all data received to 12 other processes on a socket connection (for a total
of 12, one per process).
The program is much slower on Fedora (processes about 2/3 of packets per
second, compared to the one running on RH AS3.0) and uses more CPU as
reported below.
I was expecting that if this was a 2.6.5 kernel problem on Fedora, some of
you could have already experienced the performance difference. The other
explanation is that there is some kernel configuration I am missing.
The system itself is a HP Proliant DL360G3, 2 3,0GHz processors, 4GB RAM.

Raffaele

Hi,
It will help if you tell us what is this program doing.

May be in Fedora this program runs faster and ends its task using less time
than RH system, of course, at the cost of more CPU cycles ;-)

Greetings.
