Ahhh init 3, give my vim, my .vimrc, mc, pine, and a reasonably well empowered $ prompt, and all is right with the world. :-> Though I confess I usually do type startx. I've grown used to using the above in a Konsole with a "paper" schema. And then there is mozilla, ooffice, LyX, xcdroast, dvd::rip... Once the user can remember how to switch between insert and command mode. And knows how to choose whether to write the changes or not when exiting vim, I'd be inclined to agree about it being a LOT harder to mess up with vim than with classic vi. (and yes the colors do help) I'd also say that while editing a grub.conf isn't hard to figure out, the OP did seam uncomfortable with such editing... thus would probably be better off getting a little practice first. May the vim be with you. - -- | ~^~ ~^~ | <*> <*> Joe (theWordy) Philbrook | ^ J(tWdy)P | \___/ <<jtwdyp@xxxxxxxx>> ############################################################## # You can find my public gpg key at http://pgpkeys.mit.edu/ # ############################################################## -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAwpdJRZ/61mwhY94RAsmmAKCFg+xxgtbiSGUJmG3+bd0LQATnTwCguGjA o4RluQKP17LdTOIMyLKczg0= =C1kv -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
