I have a Accelertech MB with a Promise SATA controller, which has worked fine since FC2T2 -- which was the first time that I tried a Fedora release that used a 2.6 kernel, which in turn was the first kernel that supported the driver for the Promise chip. For me, this was a raw install, and I was delighted that Anaconda recognized the controller and loaded the correct driver.

So, the process works in one case, at least. Ther are a half dozen or so SATA drivers in 2.6. Is your SATA controller among them? If so, what are your symptoms?
