FWIW I use an IBM Thinipad T40 - which works reasonably well with APM

So far there are reports of several machines of the same vintage as my current one, possibly working with APM or ACPI. It sounds like I would struggle to buy a new machine that would work out of the box :(

This might not be very relavent - but I thought I'd mention.

- You could try FC1 and see if it works. It is 2.4 kernel based. - Some of the suspend/resume problems folks encountered were
attributed to video driver. You might want to check that out..
