You can switch the window manager with 'switchdesk' (also somewhere hidden in the gnome/kde startmenu). Or you create a WindowMaker file in /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions (Just copy the existing GNOME or KDE file and modify it to your needs, replace gnome with wmaker)
