It seems that removing the .kde directory from my home directory has helped to overcome the weird mouse problems under KDE. I'm still looking for ideas for kisdndock replacement (kisdndock appears to be removed from the kdeadmin package (?) perhaps because of 2.6 kernel (??)) .
