I checked var/messages, and this is what I got >>May 19 12:17:30 posta named: named shutdown failed May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: starting BIND 9.2.3 -u named -t var/named/chroot >>May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: using 1 CPU >>May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: loading configuration from '/etc/named.conf' >>May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: listening on IPv4 interface lo, 127.0.0.1#53 >>May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: listening on IPv4 interface eth0, 192.168.1.10#53 >>May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: couldn't add command channel 127.0.0.1#953: not found >>May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: couldn't add command channel ::1#953: not found >>May 19 16:17:38 posta named[32663]: running >>May 19 12:17:39 posta named: named startup succeeded The two entries that say couldn't add channel, I don't quite know what it means. I added the 0.0.127.in-addr.arpa.zone file to the directory /var/named/chroot/var/named in the hope that this was the problem, but still received this message.
