It appears one of the newer 2.4.something kernels broke IDE tape support for some drives (mine was an HP/Colorado 5GB). I never could get it working, so I got SCSI DLT tape drives instead. I needed the larger capacity anyway, so I never spent too long trying to fix the IDE tape device. -- -John (john@xxxxxxxxxxx)
