I was having the same problem on my HP ze4502us
Laptop.  What was suggested to me was to type "linux
noacpi" to disable my acpi for the installation, if I
remember correctly.  It might also have been "linux
noprobe."  Try one, the other, then both if need be. 
That hopefully will help.
