Your original email did point me in the right direction Samual. Don't feel
bad. The bugzilla entry I pointed to say "noapic". I'm so confused, but the
above worked. Thanks for your help.

I'm dislexysic my bad;-) Fedora/Redhat kernel is pretty broken with acpi on amd4. Add to that most of tyan's bios are broken as well.
