Er, I'm a KDE man but I think your best bet if you have
a lot of space in your home directory is to use garnome.
See http://www.gnome.org/~jdub/garnome/ for more details.
This will download, compile and install GNOME is a location
you specify. Look into it. I have used it before and it works.
