Re: A choice?

I think a lot of this discussion can be applied to the "Select Individual Packages" option later in the install process too.

RH9 had a wonderful interface for selecting specifically which packages you did and did not want, allowing you to see a description and size information on all packages before installing them.

Fedora did away with this interface in exchange for a "simpler" one, which took away the descriptive interface and replaced it with a buggier, more obtuse one.

As an RFE, can we have the old one back?

I would argue that both your examples (Lilo and an fdisk button) fall
into the category of being needlessly redundant. An expert -- the only
kind of person who would appreciate the choice -- can choose for
themselves if they want to use lilo (admittedly, only after the install)
or fdisk (what difference does a button that switches to a console or a
key-press sequence make, really?)

One of the challenges of putting together a good distribution is
choosing reasonable defaults while allowing experts to customize to
their heart's content. Fedora is exceptionally good at that, IMHO.
