It's a "feature".  IIRC, there was a bug report about this back in the
early days of lokkit and it was closed with WONTFIX.

That said, as long as you don't actually save/apply/whatever, it won't
overwrite your old settings.  You can see what the old settings were by
looking in /etc/sysconfig/iptables (though I don't think that's a good
newbie solution).

The bottom line is, lokkit is a primitive tool for beginners.  If you want
a real firewall tool, other good suggestions have been made in this
thread.
