Not crazy to me.
The write laser could have cooling issues or be over driven.
Over driven and poof fuse link... light is out.

I would avoid burning two in a row without a cool off period between.
Also contact the manufacturer.  Five in a row... something is broken.
They should not be shipping old broken firmware....
