<<--snip-->> | I am using a terminal window and su - confirms my root status. The | output of ifcfg-eth0 using 'cat' is: | | DEVICE=eth0 | BOOTPROTO=none | BROADCAST=142.179.210.232 | HWADDR=00:20:ED:30:0E:8A | IPADDR=142.179.210.232 | NETMASK=255.255.255.248 | NETWORK=142.179.210.232 | ONBOOT=yes | TYPE=Ethernet | USERCTL=no | PEERDNS=yes | GATEWAY=142.179.210.1 | Brian, Your gateway is not on your network. Either, your netmask is wrong --or-- the gateway needs to be changed to the IP address of your DSL modems IP address; so the modem can forward. I've never configured a DSL modem before; but, if it already has it's gateway setup for the 142.179.210.1 then you just need to change your gateway to the IP of your modem.
