Everyone, I am running a fully updated Fedora Core 1 machine and am trying to print to a HP psc1350 using the psc1350. I have successfully printed to when not using hpoj, by setting up cups to print to /dev/usb/lp0 using the PSC 1300 driver. However, if I do that, I cannot scan. To that end, I have installed hpoj version 0.90-9 via RPM. I have set up the device as the documents in /usr/share/doc/hpoj-0.90 suggest. I am able to scan, so I know the device is recognized OK. I have tried to add the printer to cups through a)redhat-config-printer and b)the cups web-based interface. I am unable to print either way. When I issue the command "ptal-connect -print" from the command line, I get the output "ptal-connect: connecting to device "mlc:usb:hp_psc_1350"... failed!". I do not see any error messages in /var/log/messages and do not see any items in the hpoj documentation's troubleshooting section which seem to apply to my situation. I would be grateful for any pointers anyone may have on what the cause of the problem may be or what further steps I can take to identify it. Thanks, -- Philip A.
