I have tried to get sound to work on my new computer. The motherboard is asus A7V600-X and has the via VT8237 south bridge. I have seen a few messages about a similar card earlier but haven't got a clue about this jet. This is what I have tried. 1. configure at install. The card is detected as vt8235 (or something) and no sound is heard. The module used is via82cxxx_audio 2. using redhat-config-sound. This seems to be the same thing as 1. 3. install via's driver, this gives complaints about module parameters. 4. reinstall via82cxxx_audio, this gives similar messages as in 3, as follows: /sbin/modprobe via82cxxx_audio /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2115.nptl/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2115.nptl/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2115.nptl/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2115.nptl/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o: insmod via82cxxx_audio failed Please, can someone give me step by step instructions, I'm really lost. I'm not an expert when it comes to kernel modules and things like that. Or if someone knows that this does not work with Fedora Core, tell me. By the way, I checked out alsa's page, and they do not list this chipset.
