argument) seems to have solved the problem. The kernel itself has some problems,
but I'm guessing that has to do with my own inadequacy during the configuration
process. Thanks for the help.

Compiling Kernels"!! Remember, there are five or six proceedures.
1) make configure
2) make deps --until kernel 2.6
3) make
4) make bZimage
5) make initrd
6) make install
