FC1 Package Management

Hello everyone,

I am running Fedora Core Release 1, and am trying to install some
packages so that I can compile a program that I have downloaded.

I loaded the Add/Remove Applications applet, and selected the X Software
Development section. After clicking the Update button, a dialog box
comes up reporting that there are two packages that can not be located:
  1) netpbm, required by netpbm-progrs 9.24-12.1.1
  2) XFree86-libs required by XFree86-xfs-4.3.0-55, XFree86-4.3.0-55
       and XFree86-twm-4.3.0-55

I query the packages from rpm and they list as installed. Thinking that
perhaps the RPM database was corrupt, I downloaded the two packages and
forced a re-install. They still list as present, however the error
persists. "rpm -q netpbm" reports "netpbm-9.24-12.1.1". "rpm -q
XFree86-libs" reports "XFree86-libs-4.3.0-55". So I think that the
versions match okay.

Any suggestions?

Michael.
