missing libraries

When i tried to install several apps for my gnome desktop (gxmms, nautilus-rpm) the configure script complained about missing libraries, however, panel applets that came with fedora works fine. All the "missing" libs are not missing, they are in /usr/lib

i'm a bit confused...
