Did you happen to run KDE when the locatedb command is running? Run "top" from the command shell and watch what process is near the top, see what is chewing up your resources. It sounds like you identified "arts", but are there other processes? Also, please post the following information if that doesn't give you anything interesting: - What version of stuff: FC1 fresh without updates? With updates? With KDE 3.2 rpms? from where? Do you have some missing dependencies? Did you remove the old KDE 3.1 rpms? How did you recompile? "rpmbuild --rebuild" or from source? - What hardware? CPU, Motherboard, Graphics card, memory capacity... I'm mostly stabbing at the air, something's got to hit, or at least we'll be able to eliminate the most obvious stuff. - -- Jonathan Gardner jgardner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFARsbOqp6r/MVGlwwRAuHVAJ97ZGSWEp5LCH8xvH0na5mGBpASGACbBgTS gFWQn9P+oL2gdp5tcDjEuVM= =p0wV -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
