NVIDIA driver install (Was: Re: Updating files)

You might try running (as root)
/sbin/telinit 3
To get out of X, and then log in as root and try running the install again.

Use
/sbin/telinit 5
to return to X afterwards.

Is their anything that im doing wrong?
