The firewall is actually stopped :

[root@paulus rc3.d]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables status
Firewall is stopped.
[root@paulus rc3.d]#

I try to look at the process, and I got this :

root 951 1 0 11:49 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/gdm-binary -nodaemon
root 992 951 0 11:49 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/gdm-binary -nodaemon
root 993 992 7 11:49 ? 00:23:27 /usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 -audit 0 -auth /var/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7

is it something with the -nolisten option? If it is, which file I can edit so when my Xserver is started, it will run without any -nolisten
option?

Try to stop your firewall and test again

iptables stop

If then you can connect, add rules to permit X protocol

/SPAM_ON
You can try rxchoose @ http://sourceforge.net/projects/rxchoose/

A basic bash script developed by me, where I try to automate remote login
in unix systems. Is beta until users give me some feedback ( you're
welcome! )

The project home was made in a few minutes ( only pure html ) to explain
few things ( anybody with time to waste in transform this bad html in a
nice page is very welcome too O:D )
/SPAM_OFF

Dear all,

I have one Linux box running FC1 (2.4.22-1.2140.nptl) and a Sun Server
running Solaris 9. I want to have a remote desktop connection, so when
I run an application on the Sun Server, the display will be exported
to my linux box.

This is what I do

1. On my linux box I ran
[root@paulus root]# xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host
[root@paulus root]# ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:10:DC:E6:2A:DB
           inet addr:192.168.200.35 Bcast:192.168.200.255
Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
           RX packets:745961 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
           TX packets:4510422 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
           collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
           RX bytes:77979401 (74.3 Mb) TX bytes:2364482264 (2254.9 Mb)
           Interrupt:11 Base address:0xa000

2. On my solaris box, I ran
Sun Microsystems Inc. SunOS 5.9 Generic May 2002
# DISPLAY=192.168.200.35:0.0 ; export DISPLAY
# echo DISPLAY
192.168.200.35:0.0

3. Then I ran a simple command on my Solaris server and got this message :

# /usr/X/bin/xterm
/usr/X/bin/xterm Xt error: Can't open display: 192.168.200.35:0.0
# /usr/X/bin/xterm -ls -display 192.168.200.35:0.0
/usr/X/bin/xterm Xt error: Can't open display: 192.168.200.35:0.0

What's wrong with this? Did I miss something? Or is it impossible to do
such thing?

Thank you for your kind attention

Regards,
