Don't know were wine came into this - but it looks like a unix port of
the application.

I would think one of the reasons for it is - some folks like a
graphical interface to ssh - the same reason why you have file
browsers instead of 'cd' or all the gtk wrappers to command line appls
(like tsclient over rdesktop etc..)

And multiple implementations never hurt.. (how many window managers
are there?)
